Estate Managers
Although an Estate Manager’s duties may vary hugely depending
on the size of the estate, in general his/her role is, as the
name suggests, that of managing every aspect of the function of
the establishment. On larger estates, they may be responsible
for other staff, accounting and bookkeeping, while on a smaller
scale, the job might call for a more ‘hands-on’ approach. In
many cases, where owners may not live on the premises on a
permanent basis, the Estate Manager would live-in to maintain a
presence for the sake of continued security. Usually, the role
of an Estate Manager or a House Manager would be residential.
Gamekeepers
A gamekeeper is a person who manages an area of countryside
to make sure there is enough game for shooting, or fish for
angling, and who actively manages areas of woodland, moorland,
waterway or farmland for the benefit of game birds, deer, fish
and wildlife in general.
