Benefits of Hiring a Maternity Nurse

Congratulations! If you are reading this then you (or perhaps someone close to you) are expecting a baby and thinking about employing a Maternity Nurse.

This is such a special and unique time for expectant mothers. Especially important is the need to feel completely reassured that you will have the best and most suitable Maternity Nurse to take care of your baby & your family: one who has the right experience and the right approach for you to new born care.

The Maternity Team at Eden Private Staff can provide you with their considerable expertise and experience gained within the Maternity sector, coupled with an extensive database of candidates, from which they can identify the right candidates for the role.

So, once you have worked with Eden to find the right candidate for you, what benefits can you expect when you employ a professional Maternity Nurse:

Expert Care:

Your Maternity Nurse will have the right experience and/or qualifications to suit your role, so you can expect expert care for yourself and your new born. You may have specified that you need a Maternity Nurse who supports disciplined sleep routines, or has good knowledge and experience of troubleshooting regarding breastfeeding or is a specialist with twins/triplets. Whatever the role and your unique expectations for your baby’s growth and development and your hopes for motherhood, your Maternity Nurse will have the capacity to support you.

Time For Yourself & Your Family:

It is of course vital that you and your baby have time together: feeding changing, bathing, bonding. It is also wonderful to have meaningful time with your partner and other children/the rest of your family. Having the reassuring presence of a Maternity Nurse means you can give time to them and also take time for yourself. The amazing challenges of new born babies will no doubt leave you pretty weary at times and you will also need to recuperate after the birth (particularly if it was a difficult one). With a Maternity Nurse taking care of the baby, you will be able to catch up on sleep, reading & relaxing –  doing whatever rejuvenates you. If you have other children too, then you are going to want to make them feel equally as special as the baby and spending precious time with them will allow you to do that.

Specific Duties Undertaken by a Maternity Nurse:

As well as providing a smooth introduction to new parents and their baby into family life, your Maternity Nurse will encourage your involvement and instil

confidence in handling your new baby and promote a positive relationship between other siblings and the new addition.

They will also help with feeding, bathing, changing, settling and looking after all the physical needs of the baby and the baby’s laundry.

With ‘bottle fed’ babies they are also responsible for the preparation of the milk feeds, and ensuring all the bottles and feeding equipment are clean and sterilised afterwards. They will be responsible for feeding the baby, day and night and for establishing a good feeding routine by arrangement with the parents.

With ‘breast fed’ babies they will observe the mother when she is feeding and offer advice where necessary. After every feed, the Maternity Nurse should take the baby and resettle them.

Other Benefits:

Your Maternity Nurse will most likely be living in your house as they will be working throughout the day & night. They will usually cook their own meals (with food you provide) and eat separately to the family, however if you are breastfeeding or recuperating from a C-Section, you could (as agreed) expect your Maternity Nurse to bring you light snacks/lunch and help you make sure you maintain your fluid intake.
