Living in Dubai

Dubai is an extremely cosmopolitan city, with a multicultural population that numbers over 200 nationalities and as of 2024, the city had a population of around 3.79 million, more than 90% of whom are expatriates. It is estimated that approximately 80% of Dubai’s expatriate population are English and English is the most widely spoken language.

There is a myriad of reasons as to why Dubai is such a popular destination, for example the excellent all year-round warm weather, high salaries, attractive tax regimes, the safety of the city and its’ diverse cosmopolitan lifestyle. Dubai also can boast some amazing eye-catching landmarks such as Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest building and Palm Jumeirah which is a man-made island in the shape of a palm tree. These alongside incredible luxury high-rise buildings, unique architecture, prestigious & luxury hotels, some of the biggest shopping malls in the world and high-end shops, restaurants and bars make it a unique and great destination of choice. Dubai definitely offers a distinct and lavish lifestyle and truly embraces modernism, yet there is still plenty of evidence of strong ties to its’ Islamic culture and heritage.

As well as attracting a hugely diverse population, Dubai also boasts an impressive portfolio of the world’s leading companies and corporations, resulting in the presence of major names such as United Foods, Microsoft, Emirates Investment Bank, Amazon Data Services, Estee Lauder, the Marriot,  Alliance Insurance, General Electric International Operations

The city brings in huge numbers of professionals from around the world and Eden has clients in a diverse range of industries from oil and gas, to finance, technology/innovation, hospitality, tourism, real estate & construction.

 Climate

Dubai features a tropical, hot desert climate. Summers are extremely hot, prolonged, windy and humid, with an average high around 40 °C. Winters are mild to warm, with an average high of 24 °C.

Customs

Alcohol sale and consumption is legal in Dubai but it is carefully regulated. Adult non-Muslims are permitted to consume alcohol in specially licensed venues which are typically located within hotels. Alcohol consumed at home can only be done so with the possession of an ‘alcohol license ‘and as a rule, places other than hotels, clubs, and specially designated areas are not permitted to sell alcohol.
