Why as a Nanny you should join Voice
Voice is the only trade union Nannies can join. We will not only support, protect and listen to you , we offer a service that includes advice AND personal representation should something go wrong – making Voice membership so much more than just an insurance policy, social group or helpline.
Nannies are often overlooked within the childcare sector. Their employment contracts are not even similar to the contracts made between childminders and parents yet childminder associations purporting to represent nannies do so by merely swapping the word “childminder” on their documentation / advice literature with “nanny” showing a total disregard and lack of knowledge of what being a nanny actually means.
The safe employment and protection of nannies is crucial. Employers of nannies are often employers for the very first time and some inadvertently get it wrong. Other employers regrettably see their nanny as someone at their beck and call, someone there to exploit, someone without a life of their own! Nannies are professionals and deserve recognition and representation by those who understand their needs and the difficult situations they can sometimes find themselves in. Voice does not offer advice and support to employers for example and therefore will never be in conflict with whose side we are on / whose corner we want to fight. Voice will negotiate on your behalf, argue your case, allowing you to get on with what matters most to you – your job and the children you care for.
Qualified nannies can join Voice and receive membership, insurance and personal representation should you experience trouble at work from as little as £4.20 per month.
We insist that all our members are relevantly qualified and have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly known as a CRB disclosure). Voice members never go on strike meaning they ALWAYS put the children they care for first. In return, Voice puts YOU first.
