Let’s take a look first at the role of the ‘House Manager’:

The House Manager will have overall responsibility for ensuring the smooth running and general up keep and well-being of your home(s). Their main duties will include supervising any other staff you have working for you, ensuring that high standards of work are met and maintained in accordance with your wishes, dealing with all your household budgets & administration, managing and dealing with third party suppliers, planning events/entertaining with you and generally overseeing the daily care and running of your house and its’ inhabitants & guests.

Many House Managers will have gained experience working internationally and will be adept at managing multiple residences within a portfolio of properties for the employer. Their skills will be varied & many and if you have need of expertise in a certain area or a particular skill set requirement (such as knowledge of antiques or understanding payroll and HR procedures) then the right candidate with that experience can be sourced for you.

Next, let’s take a look at the role of the ‘Personal Assistant’:

A Personal Assistant (PA) will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of your office (whether that is based at your home or externally) and there is often also an overlap with business and personal responsibilities such as purchasing presents or booking tickets/flights etc for your family.

The main duties you can expect your PA to undertake for you are: the general running and management of your office, maintaining your diary/schedules and travel routines/itineraries, liaising with & looking after your clients and organising events (both business and personal). Having the reassurance of a professional PA who will oversee and deliver on all these tasks, will allow you to function much more effectively and efficiently.

Your PA will have experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information and can be trusted to be discrete and reliable.
