An excellent opportunity for a versatile and trusted Chauffeur / Handy Person to become a valued long-term member of a welcoming private family in Knightsbridge.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the family’s daily driving requirements, including school runs, children’s activities, errands and general family transportation. The role will initially focus on the family’s son, who attends school in Barnes, with an additional school run to be incorporated when their daughter starts school in the coming months.
The working day will generally begin at approximately 7:00am with the morning school run, followed by a flexible daytime schedule before the afternoon school pick-up, usually between 4:00pm and 5:30pm. During the daytime, the family would appreciate someone who is proactive and happy to assist with practical errands and general household tasks.
The family are looking for someone who is not simply a driver, but who can also turn their hand to basic maintenance and handyman duties. This may include changing lightbulbs, carrying out small repairs, touching up paintwork, collecting items from the dry cleaners or post office and generally helping with the practical running of the household.
The family are currently looking to purchase a Mercedes V-Class, which will become the principal family vehicle. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, presentable and well maintained, including arranging MOTs, servicing and routine maintenance when required.
The role would suit someone reliable, trustworthy and professional who is calm, organised and comfortable working around children. Flexibility is important, as the family occasionally require additional support beyond the usual schedule, particularly around children’s activities and family commitments.

Job Specification
Family Driving
- Carry out the family’s daily school runs, initially for their son and subsequently for both children.
- Morning school run, with a start time of approximately 7:00am.
- Afternoon school pick-up, generally between 4:00pm and 5:30pm.
- Drive the children safely to and from school and their various activities.
- Provide additional family driving as required.
- Assist with occasional longer journeys and other transportation requirements.
- Ensure journeys are planned efficiently and carried out safely and professionally.
Vehicle Management
- Take responsibility for the general upkeep and presentation of the family’s vehicle.
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
- Arrange MOTs, servicing and routine maintenance when required.
- Monitor vehicle requirements and ensure servicing and documentation remain up to date.
- Liaise with garages and mechanics as required.
Errands & Household Support
- Carry out general household errands, including post office, dry cleaning and collection/delivery duties.
- Assist with shopping and other practical errands when required.
- Help with small household tasks and practical jobs.
- Change lightbulbs and undertake minor repairs around the property.
- Carry out basic painting and touch-up work where appropriate.
- Assemble, move or install small household items as required.
- Identify minor maintenance issues and either resolve them where possible or arrange for the appropriate contractor.
- Assist with general practical tasks to support the smooth running of the household.
Candidate Specification
The ideal candidate will be a reliable, professional and practical individual who is confident driving a family and looking after their vehicles, while also being happy to assist with the general practical running of a private household.
The family are looking for someone who is calm, trustworthy and flexible, with a genuine willingness to help wherever required.
Essential
- Previous experience as a family chauffeur, private chauffeur, driver/handyman or in a comparable private household role.
- Excellent and confident driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable driving children and working around a family.
- Previous experience working for a private family is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle care, including MOTs, servicing and routine maintenance.
- Practical and confident with basic handyman and household maintenance tasks.
- Comfortable carrying out errands and working independently.
- Reliable, punctual and highly trustworthy.
- Calm, professional and well presented.
- Flexible and willing to assist with additional duties and hours when required.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
- Discreet and respectful of the family’s privacy.
- Excellent checkable references.
