Job Summary: A boy in his pre-teens who has Epilepsy is in need of a live-in nanny / Manny / companion, very well controlled but seizures happen occasionally and attend regular school (International School) but is in a ILP program (Individual Learning Program). He has two older siblings 17 & 19 years old. You will be solely working with the 11-year-old boy as his nanny and companion.
School holiday time is spent in Klosters / Switzerland (ski resort), Stockholm / Sweden and Torekov / Sweden (summer). Around 10-12 weeks each year is spent elsewhere, and they would expect the nanny to join. It is also an opportunity to experience new areas and to have some change of scene. In Klosters there is a separate guest house for the nanny and in Sweden separate bedrooms w shower-room at another floor level than the family.
Two previous nannies were with the 4 and 5 years consecutively and they are very kind and caring employers.
- Zug: Spacious separate apartment 2,5 room (1 separate bedroom, bathroom and a large open plan kitchen, dining, living) plus a balcony with beautiful views and private parking place
- School Holidays: A new addition is an apartment in London, where we also will spend some time during school holidays. The nanny will have a separate bedroom and bathroom, but since it’s a flat on the “same level” but separate.
- Additional benefits; + CHF 150/ month for health insurance + REGA insurance (helicopter service in case of accident).

- “Sole charge” afternoons, time before dinner and the two evenings: Both school work and exercises from therapists are supposed to be repeated, but of course there will always be time for playing as well.
- School requires that there be nanny present for “transportation” between areas/classes and for assisting in PE and Art
- Also take home to have therapy in the afternoons

- When he is in classes you can wait inside / outside or will also have access to the staff rooms.
- He needs instructions, to be told what to do and sometimes some incentives.
- One could say that there’s a whole team around the boy; the nanny, the teachers and therapists at school, private therapists for afternoons and his doctors. They all contribute in different ways to his wellbeing and positive development. This is also a resource and “back-up-help” for the nanny.
- The time the nanny actually spends time with the boy and has to engage him is sometimes limited. Such as, they pick him up (ready to go) for school and then directly hands him over to a teacher. Nanny is then free to do something else, but she just has to remain at the school premises. In between classes, she must accompany him walking from one place to another. It is because he is not allowed to walk around freely (liability clause / school) in case he would have a seizure e.g. walking the stairs.
- At lunch time the nanny brings him back home and makes lunch, then he sleeps for an hour. Three afternoons a week, he goes to therapy. Then again, the nanny transports him and hands him over to a therapist. The remaining two afternoons a week, they have sole charge. There is of course a bit of time coming back from therapy before dinner.
- Long-term commitment – minimum 2-3 years
- Driver is essential
- Experience of children with learning difficulties or epilepsy is an advantage
- The ability of being both strict enough to put rules into place, but at the same time being loving and caring.
- Wonderful, if a bit playful and a child at heart
- Loyalty, honesty, flexibility, patience and a positive attitude is valued
- Being able to be proactive, inventive, and engaged is much appreciated
- Not fearing his medical condition and able to deal with an emergency situation. Seizures do not require an emergency procedure normally, but even though there has not been one for 5-6 years – an “emergency bag” always needs to be present in case there would suddenly be a “bigger one”.
