Job Summary: An American family with three children and twenty years of roots in the UK, is looking for a lovely, very experienced nanny (twin girls age ten and a seven years-old boy). The household has a fulltime housekeeper and a household PA 2x per week. The group works as a team to cover the family’s needs. Depending on the person and skillset responsibilities can be adjusted.
Duties include: they would involve keeping up to date and preparing the children’s uniform and school equipment the night before for the following day, taking care of the children’s laundry and ironing, making sure the children’s rooms/bathroom are kept organised, tidy and clean with meticulous attention to detail (such as labelling etc.), and cooking healthy dishes (primarily dinners and many times, the families recipes). The latter to be shared with the housekeeper depending on workload and time of meal.
The nanny (and parents) would be able to help with homework and exam prep, encourage the children to read out loud or by themselves, entertain and educate the children, facilitate with any extra tasks whether it be reading the children’s news, organising an art project or a computer power point, baking, sewing, simple circuit boards or even learning the rules to a board game and exercise sound judgement in appropriate content from digital media.
Babysitting & Travel: with extra pay or time in lieu, babysitting & travel is required on average twice per week (not applicable with covid) and as well as the ability to travel up to 8-10 weeks during the year with the family where responsible for groceries, camp drop off and errands when at home in Connecticut would be a huge bonus or in Florida. Annual trips include Verbier, Connecticut, Ohio, Florida and the Med plus other travel. During the trips the nanny tag teams with the mom and assists in all duties.
Extra information: the nanny would have a computer and family email address to coordinate schedules, playdates, diary management, and organise gifts for parties. The nanny would be required to liaise with the school and other parents when needed and generally stay on the ball. She will be asked to pick up food (primarily on Pavilion road or Duke of York Square) on the way in and/or place a weekly Ocado order for the whole house which would include liaising with the housekeeper to make sure each individual has all the supplies needed (i.e. bathroom products, medicine, school supplies) and running errands after drop-off where necessary when children in school.
Schedule: Whilst there is flexibility around the schedule, the ideal scenario is for the nanny to drop the children (2 days) and pick up (all days) the children from school either by walking or by taxi round trip (or by family car if nanny drives). When out and about, at all times would the nanny be required to wear a face mask during covid period when in a taxi or at pick up and to be vigilant and to respect social distancing rules.
The candidate: The nanny would need to be energetic with a can-do attitude and heaps of initiative. Experience with working in a busy family home and confidence with children is essential. The individual needs to be organised and able to keep up with last minute changes or requests
