Maternity Nurse

Summary

J is an extremely versatile and multiskilled Maternity Nurse who offers a wealth of knowledge and experience.

J began her career training in Midwifery, completing her practical work around various NHS trusts in Scotland. During this time J’s interest was piqued by the emotional and individual support she feels is so important for every new baby and their family; and she since retrained as a birth & post-natal doula and maternity nurse. J has, among other studies,  completed her OCN level 4 Maternity Practitioner course, a Higher National Diploma in healthcare and certificate in Perinatal mental health. For the last five years J has provided so many clients both before and after the birth of their baby with advice, help and knowledge delivered with thoughtfulness to each of their situations.  The care of the family unit is vital to J and she pays attention to the opportunity for parents and siblings to build a bond as gently and organically as possible. She is adept in helping establish good breast feeding and habits and is keen to include dads in baby care. J is particularly keen on helping settle babies into a good routine and works closely with parents to establish something that suits them.

J’s midwifery background has been the perfect foundation to enable her to offer a professional and well-informed advice, which is coupled with her calm and gentle demeanour. J has dealt with a number of emotionally difficult jobs, and so has acquired an insightful sensitivity to her role. She approaches each client with a calm and composed approach and really listens to their expectations to ensure she provides  balanced, overarching care.
