Due diligence is the overt or covert background check on a person, company or place. If you are considering employing staff or contracting a company to provide services, you can never be too careful who you are exposing to your family and home.
Eden has an in house capability to perform background checks that will ensure that you are in no doubt as to the qualifications and integrity of the person you will engage with. The skills required to perform such data mining investigations are not easily found, but Eden’s investigators have been trained by the Metropolitan Police service and have vast experience in developing intelligence on international criminals.
The multi- layered approach to assessing the honesty and integrity of a person ensures that any markers found are highlighted and recommendations made that will allow an employer to make decisions based on facts that are irrefutable. With access to hundreds of privileged databases across many countries ensures that no stone is left unturned. An investigation can be conducted without the candidate’s knowledge through legally accessible sources and human intelligence sources. However, overt background checks conducted with the candidate’s permission, as a precondition of employment can utilise information that is restricted by the Data Protection Act. Eden’s investigators have experience in conducting developed vetting (DV) of Government level employees that require Top secret access. Investigations with the candidate’s knowledge and permission will go to depths of interviewing “in person” the candidate’s referees and referees of the first referee!
We have developed varying degrees of service that go beyond British Standard 7858 (Vetting and screening). Each will incur a fee in relation to the depth of the investigation. The lists below indicate some of the multiple layers investigated:
BS 7858 + Criminal checks via Most wanted databases.
Level 1 + Sexual offender’s registers, membership to extreme Political groups and insolvency checks.
Level 2 + Paedophile lists, Banned directors, no fly lists, terrorist or golden chain affiliation, Cyber hacking and terrorism, email validation, Social Media datamining and mortality check.
Overt checks with permission
Level 3 + interviews with 3 Referees, home visit and interview with candidate.
Level 4 + Interviews with 6 referees, three of which vouch for the first three referees. This mitigates any influence from the candidate over the first 3 referees.
