Spotlight on a Prep School – for international pupils

When the Covid-19 pandemic is over and we can all look forward to better and more normal times, your thoughts may turn again to your child’s education and the broadening of their horizons.

What better way then, than to consider the experience of an English prep school…

Nestled in the heart of beautiful Dorset, Knighton House is a prep school offering a unique curriculum and wonderful boarding school experience for children up to Year 8/age 13 years.

Every year, Knighton House welcomes a small cohort of international students from around the world (most recently Spain, France, Italy, China, Eastern Europe and Africa) and their mission is: ‘ to help children of all nationalities gain the confidence and skills that will enable them to move to the next stage of their education, well on the road to becoming happy and fulfilled adults.’

Knighton House are always delighted to welcome these students, firmly believing that they add an exciting dimension to the school through the benefit of language and cultural opportunities.

Entry Process

Children can join at any point during the academic year and small classes ensure they are able to integrate quickly. Pupils usually join for a minimum of a year in order to improve their English, play new sports and enjoy new experiences. Pupils are offered EAL lessons with a specialist teacher which are tailored to the individual pupil’s needs and they can be entered for the University of Cambridge affiliated KET, PET, FCE and Cambridge Advanced English qualifications.  Knighton House also offer EAL online for continuity of teaching when the pupil returns home.

Visiting Knighton House

Of course, there is nothing better than visiting and experiencing the magic of Knighton House for yourself.

Prospective pupils and their families can arrange to visit Knighton House during term time when the school is busy (but tours are possible at any time) and a popular option is to arrange for a taster day and night for your child.
