The Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy has to be one of the most magical times in a woman’s life; however the drastic changes the body goes through in a relatively short space of time can be a shock to the system!  Of course pregnancy is completely natural but living in the modern world with the increasing stresses put upon us, it is more important than ever to take time to relax not only for yourself but for your growing baby.

As your body changes during your pregnancy you may start to feel aches and pains, tension in your muscles from carrying extra weight as well as compression on nerves, find mobility increasingly difficult and the prospect of giving birth can feel both exciting and daunting!

Having regular massage during pregnancy will help you to become more aware of your body, help you relax easily during labour and the wonderful ‘feel good’ endorphins released during massage are passed on to your baby.  A happy and relaxed mummy means a happy and relaxed baby!

Other fabulous benefits to regular pregnancy massage include stimulating the blood and lymph circulation helping to distribute essential nutrients around your body, including to the placenta feeding your baby, and eliminating toxins around the body. Swelling can be reduced and sluggish bowel movements improved. Massage of course induces deep relaxation and it can also encourage the release of Oxytocin, a pain relieving hormone. All wonderful results I’m sure you’ll agree.

I travel to my clients’ homes for their pregnancy massage appointments, and I only use completely safe organic massage oils. The convenience of treatments at home reduces any stress travelling to a salon. My clients are able to completely relax in their own home, keeping warm, relaxed and comfortable. Just what you need at this exciting time of your life!
